CEO & Co-Founder Substantial Living

Connecting people through Substantial food experiences inspired by nature, neuroscience, and beauty.

After 14 years of working on neurodegenerative diseases, traveling to over 30 countries, and eating lots of food, Mahin launched a food and design lifestyle brand, Substantial Living, to inspire people to live with substance and style.  Her company makes a natural food product that is being sold at local San Francisco health stores such as Vegan Picnic to larger corporate retailers such as West Elm.  She also does food styling and recipe creation which has been featured in Pottery Barn.  She found that the best times in her life was when she was able to connect with others was over food.  She loves creating simple, global recipes in her kitchen-much like working in a lab.  She finds her inspiration through nature and science, and weaves that into her food and design, and hopes that not only can we connect to each other, but to everything around us, like nature, and live a more Substantial life.

Mahin has a BS from the University of California, Davis in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior Science and an MBA from Babson College. Her work can be seen in Fortune, Nature, NYTimes,  Pottery Barn Blog and 7x7 Magazine.  She loves the ocean, design, music, travel, and reading.
